CRESTON PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSOCIATION ORGANIZATION AND POLICY MANUAL
1.2 Powers And Duties Of The Board Of Management
The Board of Management:
a. - may make rules for holding meetings of the association and for managing the association,
b. - may make rules for managing the business of the Board and for regulating the use of its facilities and services by the public,
c. - may appoint any committees that it considers necessary to carry out its business.
d. - must appoint a Chief Librarian,
e. - may enter into collective agreements with employees and set the terms of their employment, including fixing their remuneration and their duties,
f. - may lease land or buildings for library purposes or dispose of land or buildings acquired before this section comes into force, but only with the prior approval of the minister,
g. - may acquire property for library purposes and dispose of property,
h. - may contract, for a term of not more than 5 years for professional or other services for library purposes,
i. - may sue or be sued in the name of the Public Library Association,
j. - may have a common seal and may alter or change it,
k. - must prepare an annual report in the form approved by the minister and must provide copies of it to the minister, and
l. - must maintain a record of the members of the Public Library Association.
