CRESTON PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSOCIATION ORGANIZATION AND POLICY MANUAL

2.3 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

The specific goals of the Creston Public Library Association shall be re-evaluated and updated on a regular basis. The Board, employees and members of the Association shall strive to fulfill these goals to the best of their ability, bearing in mind budget restrictions and the uncertainty of fund raising projects.

a. - The Facility
The present facility of the library is limited both in space and in locale. It is the goal of the Board to provide a definite plan for an improved facility. In accordance with this goal the Board shall continue to locate a suitable site, organize a specific fund raising organization created to deal with the needs of the new facility, and acquire a building design commensurate with community need and financial restraints.

b. - Technological Advancement
The Board will continue to work toward the completion of computerization of library systems and to continually update and expand computer programs and access as the budget allows.

c. - Services
The Board recognizes that the services provided at the library are a wonderful and invaluable asset to the community. Thus the Board will strive for the continued excellence of this service and to provide improved materials and resources for the staff to continually increase and improve the services.

d. - Both the Board and the Librarian realize the importance of providing an organized reference service in the library. Toward this end, efforts will be made to make available trained staff members to assist users in the pursuit of information, recognizing that many users lack the skills or confidence to locate information by themselves.

In order to facilitate greater public awareness of the library, a library News Column in the local newspaper is maintained.

The Board and Librarian shall strive to provide expanded service senior's homes, groups and shut-ins.
