3.3 Library Etiquette

a. - Patron Responsibilities and Conduct

The purpose of the Library's Rules of Conduct is to protect the rights of individuals who are in the library to use library materials/and or services, to protect rights of staff members to conduct library business without interference, and to preserve library materials and facilities.

To guarantee these rights, the following rules of conduct have been approved by the Creston Public Library Association Board of Trustees.

- 1. - Smoking is not permitted.
- 2. - Consumption of food and beverages is prohibited.
- 3. - Pets are not permitted.
- 4. - Loud, boisterous, disruptive, or aggressive behavior; running; foul or abusive language will not be tolerated.
- 5. - Improper removal of library materials or equipment or intentional defacement or damage to library property is prohibited.

Violation of any of the above rules may result in expulsion from the library and / or revocation of borrowing privileges.

b. - Safety and Well-Being of Children

For the safety and well being of children, it is recommended that parents do not leave children under age nine unattended in the library. Unattended means that a parent or adult guardian is not in the building with the child. Children age five and under must be within visual and physical contact of a parent or adult guardian at all times while using the library.

The staff of the Creston Public Library cannot be responsible for children left unattended in the building.
