CRESTON PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSOCIATION ORGANIZATION AND POLICY MANUAL
4.1 General
a. - The primary public relations goals of the library are to actively educate and communicate to the general public, civic leaders and governing officials the library's services, programs, objectives and specific goals.
b. - The Board and staff are encouraged to give talks and to participate in community activities. A reasonable amount of library time will be allowed to staff members at the discretion of the Chief Librarian for preparation and public speaking.
c. - Publicity relating to Library Board Policy shall be the responsibility of the Board. Library employees may no make public statements relating to library policy unless specifically directed to do so by the Board.
d. - The proceedings of committee meetings are considered to be in camera and except under specific direction by the Chairperson of the Board, no press release shall be authorized and no reports given concerning these meetings.
e. - All monthly meetings of the board shall be public. In the absence of the press, a press release may be issued by the Board.
f. - The library may advertise events of a cultural, informational, recreational or educational nature whether or not a charge is made for entry to these events.
g. - The library will not participate in any outside charity drives or any other functions involving the collection of money.
