How to search for and request an interlibrary loan
- Search for the item you want by typing the tile and/or author into the main search box and press submit or enter.
- If there is more than one record for the title you want, chose the one with the most Holdings on it and click on it. The number of holding will appear below each title.
- Once you have chosen the correct record click the "Request this Item" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. In the form that appears fill in the following fields:
- Patron Name: Enter your name in the order: Last Name, First Name.
- Password: Can be any thing you like.
- Library Card: Enter your library card number in full including the alphabetic prefix.
- Phone Number: Enter your phone number,this allows the library to notify you that your item has arrived.
- Email: Enter your Email address if you would prefer to be contacted that way.
- Note: Patron Name, Password and Phone Number or Email are mandatory fields. If you do not add them the request will not be accepted.
- If you choose to abandon the request close the window by clicking on the X in the top right hand corner of your screen.
Important Things to Know:
- We cannot accept requests for audio and video materials.
- Requests for new materials (published less than a year ago) & items currently featured in the media cannot be filled.
- Magazine articles are available, but often photocopying charges apply.
- Only 2 requests are accepted per patron every two weeks. Requests exceeding 2 items will not be approved until a later date.
- Some academic libraries charge a lending fee (you will be contacted for approval before the request is filled).
- Before considering Interlibrary Loans be sure that the title you want is NOT in the library's collection. Check for it here
