Getting Started

  • Click on the Sign In link in the top right corner.

  • At the login screen you will be asked to enter your login name/barcode and your password.

  • Initially, your library card barcode must be used and the default password is WEBCAT.

  • As the system is case sensitive, the password must be typed as it appears, in capital letters.

  • The initial login is intended to be temporary and should be change; you may opt to keep your library card number as your login but it is important to personalize your password.

Standard Search

  • To begin searching for items, click the Standard Search link located on the top left of the screen.

  • Select the search button with which you want to categorize your search; Anywhere/Subject/Title/Author

  • Type your search words in the white bar and click on the search button. Author names can be inverted or natural order.

Enhanced/Visual Searches

  • Enhanced Search allows you to search conduct a more defined by limiting material type or searching more than one field at a time, such as author and title.

  • Visual Search is a simplified subject search for young children. headings and pictures can be clicked on to lead the user to material in these subject areas.

Reserves/Holds

  • To reserve items you must be signed in.

  • Once you have completed your search, you can browse each item listing and when you locate the title you would like to reserve, click on the Details link.

  • Similar to the Online Catalogues located in the library, a green square next to the item indicates it is available for circulation. A red square indicates that the item is already on loan or currently unavailable.

  • Once you have clicked on the Details link, a more complete record will be displayed including the due date of the item. You will also be presented with a Reserve button.

  • Click the button and the system will place the item on reserve and verify that the reserve has been successful.

  • If the item is available, it will be held for you at the library. if it is currently on loan, you will be notified when it becomes available.

  • If you wish to cancel a reserve, simply go to My Account, select Current Transactions, and click on the cancel option. The system will verify cancellation of the hold.

Renewals

  • To renew items, you must be logged in.

  • Go to My Account, select Current Transactions, and click on the Renew button next to the item.

  • Only one renewal is allowed and renewals are not possible for overdue items or those for which there are reserves.

My Bookbag

  • The Bookbag allows you to build a list of books for a bibliography.

  • Find the title you want to save and click on the Bookbag option.

  • It does not place holds but will retain your personal list for up to 30 days when you select the option to save it.

  • To empty your bookbag, simply select the Remove All link in the top left of the bookbag screen.

My Account

  • There are five sections to your account:
    1. My info: Displays your current personal information

    2. Current Transactions: Displays items you currently have on loan or reserve

    3. Change Login/Password: Is where you should personalize your login name and change your password from the default.

    4. Print: Allows you to print any of the account information displayed on the screen when the print option is selected.

    5. Sign In/Sign Out: Displays the login screen to sign in or the link to sign out and discontinue your session.
